A Tribute to Voltaire
ContentHowever, it just occured to me that none of this slightly creepy obsession would have been possible without Voltaire, a gothic musician who wrote the song for an episiode of Billy and Mandy titled "Little Rock of Horror". The episode was a parody of Little Shop of Horrors and featured a singing, brain consuming alien thing.
I have been a huge fan of Voltaire for several years now. He won me over with his song "When You're Evil", captured my heart with his cover of the Cure's "Lovesong", amazed me with the parody of the Wizard of Oz tune, "If I Only Were a Goth" (my favourite line, as a massive Anne Rice fan "Yes the thing I'd be best at is impersonating Lestat,"). And of course he won my complete respect with the name Voltaire, after the 17th-18th century French writer. I do love a man who knows his literature.
I eventually came across one of his songs titled "Brains", which of course I instantly fell in love with. The TV had been left on one day by my younger brother and I heard thesong "Brains" being played on the television, I had never heard Voltaire on TV before and curiously went to venture this.
Lo and behold "Brains" was the song that had been recoreded for the show Billy and Mandy! I usually don't like the cartoons young kids these days are forced to endure (Phineas and Ferb? Puh-lease!) but this appreance of Voltaire gave me a new found respect for the cartoon. So I sat down and decided to watch my first episode of the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy...
And the rest is history.
W..O..W this was a long journal entry! I don't even mind if it never get's read, I just really needed to vent.
